M. Eric Eberhardt
M. Eric Eberhardt is a trial and litigation specialist. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 23, 1968, and his family has over 200 years worth of ties to the Athens area. He was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1993.
Eric is a 1993 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Furman University in 1990 where he was a Football letterman for a program that won a Division 1-AA championship during his stay.
In 2003, Mr. Eberhardt was profiled by Athens Magazine as one of a young group of successful professionals who have chosen to ply their trade in Athens.
Prior to the formation of Eberhardt & Hale, LLP, Eric worked in the areas of Insurance Defense, State Prosecution as well as General Trial Practice. As an Assistant District Attorney, he tried and prosecuted the most serious of cases including Capital Murders, Homicides, Rapes, and Armed Robberies. Mr. Eberhardt currently serves as Traffic Court Solicitor in Oconee County, and has received and given specialized training in DUI cases.
In private practice, he has successfully represented clients in criminal matters, both in State and Federal Courts, as well as effectively helped civil clients who have suffered serious physical injury or have suffered or are facing grave financial loss.
Mr. Eberhardt is admitted to practice law in the Georgia Bar, and is also is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Georgia Supreme Court. He is a member of the Western Circuit Bar Association and is a past president of Toombs Circuit Bar Association.
Eric and his family are members of a local Athens Church, and he has worked with a number of Athens volunteer organizations including Habitat for Humanity (for which he was elected to the Board of Directors in 2004).
